How to Download Twitter / X Videos (Without the App)
Twitter (now X) doesn't have a download button for videos. You can bookmark tweets, but that only saves a link — if the tweet gets deleted, the video is gone.
To actually save the video file to your phone or computer, you need a web-based downloader. Here's the fastest method.
How to Download Videos from Twitter / X
Step 1: Copy the Tweet Link
On the X / Twitter app (iPhone or Android):
- Find the tweet with the video
- Tap the Share icon (arrow pointing up on iOS, three dots on Android)
- Tap Copy Link
On x.com / twitter.com (desktop):
- Click the tweet to open it
- Copy the URL from your browser's address bar
The link will look like: https://x.com/username/status/1234567890
Step 2: Paste Into DownloadBot
- Open downloadbot.org
- Paste the tweet link into the URL field
- Tap Download
DownloadBot detects the video in the tweet and processes it.
Step 3: Choose Quality and Save
You'll see quality options based on what the original uploader posted:
- HD (720p or 1080p) — Best available quality
- SD (480p or lower) — Smaller file size
- Audio only (MP3) — Just the audio track
Tap download and the file saves to your device.
What Types of Twitter/X Content Can You Download?
DownloadBot works on:
- Regular video tweets — uploaded directly to Twitter
- GIFs — Twitter converts GIFs to MP4 internally, so they download as video files
- Tweets with multiple videos — you'll be able to select which one to download
- Quote tweets with video — as long as the video is in the tweet you're linking to
- X Spaces recordings — if the recording is publicly available
It does not work on:
- Tweets from protected/private accounts
- Deleted tweets
- Twitter Fleets (discontinued)
Downloading Twitter Videos on iPhone
Safari on iPhone handles downloads slightly differently:
- After the download starts, tap the Downloads icon in Safari's toolbar
- Tap the completed file
- Tap Share → Save Video
The video moves to your Camera Roll / Photos app.
Downloading Twitter Videos on Android
Chrome on Android saves videos directly to your Downloads folder. Open the Files app or Gallery to find it. On Samsung, check Gallery → Albums → Downloads.
Want to Clip Just a Section?
DownloadBot's built-in clip tool works on Twitter/X videos too. If you only want a specific moment from a longer video — say a 5-second reaction clip from a 2-minute video — set your start and end timestamps before downloading.
This is especially useful for creating reaction clips, memes, or repurposing moments for other platforms.
Twitter/X Links: Both Domains Work
It doesn't matter whether your link uses twitter.com or x.com — DownloadBot handles both. Old twitter.com links and new x.com links both work identically.
DownloadBot downloads from Twitter/X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, Vimeo, Twitch and 500+ more. One tool, every platform.
